Chapter 6.

The second the show wrapped up, Sister Lan dragged me straight to a nightclub.
“Xiao Yue, if we don’t party tonight, we’re wasting our lives!”
Half an hour later, we were completely surrounded by a sea of six-foot-two male models with six-pack abs defined enough to scrub jeans on.
Sister Lan tossed her hair back with absolute swagger. “Bring out your most expensive champagne! Don’t hold back!”
I was already completely hammered, my vision spinning. “Bring me… ten more guys!”
Meanwhile, right outside the nightclub entrance…
The two Lu men were squatting beside a flower bed, looking for all the world like a pair of stray guard dogs.
The moment they turned their heads, they locked eyes with… a lurking paparazzi.
Lu Chi’s phone buzzed with a notification:
【Transaction Alert: 188,888 RMB – Male Model Escort Service】
The paparazzi tiptoed over. “Movie Emperor Lu, are you… crying?”
Lu Chi choked back a breath. “No… my heart just hurts from the hemorrhaging cash…”
Dad Lu patted his son’s shoulder mournfully. “Hang in there, son.”
Ding! Ding!
His own phone erupted with a rapid-fire combo:
【200,000 RMB – Male Model Tip】
【500,000 RMB – Champagne Tower】
Dad Lu clutched his chest. “Your mother has never thrown money around like this for me in her entire life…”
Lu Chi clenched his fists tight. “Dad… stay strong.”
That very night, the trending lists absolutely detonated:
[BREAKING] #The Lu Men Sitting in the Cold Wind Outside a Nightclub, Crying with the Paparazzi#
[EXCLUSIVE] #The Heartbreaking Moment the Lu Men Look Like They Lost Everything#
The attached photo showed father and son clutching their phones with dark, gloomy expressions, looking so moody it belonged on an arthouse movie poster.
The comment section went wild:
[Lu Chi: My wife calls over male escorts, and I pay the bill.]
[Dad Lu: Love is a light, but I’m… stuck in complete darkness.]
[Mingyue & Sister Lan: Thanks for the invite, we’re currently chilling!]
Sister Lan’s veteran fandom suddenly rose from the dead:
[Who said Sister Lan had no fans left? We just got older, we’re not dead!]
[Back in the day, she was a double-award-winning Screen Queen who swept every single red carpet!]
[White Orchid? Sister Lan leaves her in the dust by ten miles!]
Accompanied by a throwback video: a young Sister Lan in a stunning red dress strutting down the red carpet as flashbulbs exploded like a supernova.
Ancient dirt was promptly dug up as well:
[White Orchid is the ultimate career mistress! The first wife once chased her down the street until her wig flew ten feet into the air!]
Cue the old tabloid photo: White Orchid’s wig flying through the air like a magnificent firework.
Fans jumped in to set the record straight:
[Who stole whose man? Excuse me, but Sister Lan and Gu Chen were the real high school sweethearts!
As for CEO Lu? He was literally the side-dude who cut in line!]
Then came a video of young Gu Chen: looking dashing in a fitted suit, playing the piano like a prince stepping out of a classic romance film.
The comments exploded:
[This guy’s visuals are insane!]
[Compared to CEO Lu… losing in the looks department is just a cold hard fact.]
My jaw dropped as I watched it. Over on the set, the suave Uncle Gu was currently sitting next to Sister Lan, the sunlight pouring over them like a scene straight out of a classic romance film.
Dad Lu gritted his teeth so hard they nearly shattered. “That sly, scheming manipulative womanizer! How dare he use such filthy tricks to seduce my Lan Lan!”
Then, with a heavy THUD, he feigned a dramatic collapse onto the floor. “Lan Lan… my blood pressure is spiking… save me…”
Sister Lan didn’t even flinch. She pulled out her phone and dialed. “Hello, 911? There’s a man here fake-dying to scam me.”
Dad Lu shot straight back up. “I’m… cured!”
The comment section went up in flames again:
[HAHAHAHA CEO Lu: I can’t keep acting anymore…]
[Wait, so he really WAS the home-wrecker back then?!]
[He definitely has the spirit of an actor, too bad his acting is trash.]
Naturally, as a professional drama enthusiast, I was always one step ahead of the netizens.
I immediately pounced on Sister Lan for a quick, hot-off-the-press interview: “Sister Lan, was Uncle Lu… actually the side-dude back in the day?”
Sister Lan nodded nonchalantly. “Yep. He pulled a cheap trick and broke up me and Gu Chen.”
I felt like a golden retriever in a field full of squeaky toys, my eyes instantly lit up. “So… do you still harbor feelings for your high school sweetheart?”
Sister Lan waved a hand dismissively. “Harbor feelings for what? He chose his career over me back then, and I’m way too busy to go around eating old grass.”
I blinked, thoroughly intrigued. “What about Uncle Lu then? He loves you so much… did he really cheat on you?
Wasn’t that photo just a big misunderstanding? Like, White Orchid stumbled, and he just… reached out a hand to catch her?”
Hearing that, Sister Lan gritted her teeth viciously. “He dared to catch her?!”
Right at that moment, the door clicked open.
Uncle Lu poked his head inside, completely unable to eavesdrop in silence any longer. “Lan Lan! I swear on my life I didn’t catch her! Heaven and earth are my witnesses!”
Sister Lan narrowed her eyes, her gaze cold as ice. “Then why was your hand resting right on her waist?!”
“She threw herself at me! I was terrified she’d fake a fall and sue me for damages, so I… pushed her away!
We were standing in a hotel lobby discussing business!
I didn’t even know where that random woman popped out from!
The security cameras can prove my innocence!”
Uncle Lu frantically gestured with both hands as he pleaded his case.
Sister Lan crossed her arms. “Is that the truth?”
Uncle Lu’s eyes welled up with tears. “It’s the absolute truth! Have I ever lied to you? You misunderstood me…”
Sister Lan let out a cold snort. “You’re still an idiot. Who told you to stand so close to her in the first place?”
Uncle Lu nodded like a bobblehead. “You’re right, it’s all my fault! I gave that venomous snake an opening!
Wife, please forgive me, I can’t survive without you…”
I was clinging to the doorway, soaking in the juicy drama like a sponge. But before I could get another laugh out, a cold snort sounded right behind me.
“You have low blood sugar, yet you’re squatting here to gossip?”
I whipped around, Lu Chi stood there, his face as cold as a stone tablet, holding a cup of boba milk tea in his hand.
I blinked in surprise. “Wait, how did you know I have hypoglycemia?”
He shoved the cup into my hands and let out a scoff. “I know a lot of things.”
I took a long sip through the straw. “Oh? Like what?”
He narrowed his eyes and rattled off a list with effortless precision:
“Eating cup noodles in secret at midnight.”
“Planting garlic cloves in the mansion’s private garden.”
“Hoarding ten boxes of face masks and five boxes of pads.”
“And secretly listing my entire wardrobe for sale on second-hand apps.”
I nearly choked on a boba pearl. “Ahem! Cough, cough! How the hell do you know that?!”
Before I could catch my breath, he grabbed me by the wrist, pulled me behind his back, and blocked the doorway with his tall frame, his eyes sharp and intense. “Ji Mingyue.”
I looked up at him. “What?”
Lu Chi gritted his teeth, his voice laced with suppressed possessiveness: “Stay the hell away from that Shen Miao guy.”
I played dumb, batting my eyelashes. “Aww, why? He’s my show partner~”
Lu Chi stared down at me with an icy glare. “Because I’m your husband.”
I raised an eyebrow playfully. “Huh? But aren’t we getting a divorce soon?”
He ground his teeth together, forcing the words out one by one:
“We. Haven’t. Signed. Yet.”
