The Love He Almost

I Don’t Like Her Either

Chapter 2: Because, As It Happens… I Don’t Like Her Either

During dinner, Shen Qiao stepped outside to take a call from his director. Since it was rare for me to get a chance to be alone with my idol, I immediately slipped out after him.

He was a huge celebrity now. If he were photographed with some random woman, the internet could probably spin it into a three-hundred-chapter fanfic overnight.

As a true ride-or-die fan, I absolutely could not let that happen.

After making sure no one else was in the hallway, I cautiously walked over.

The moment I got close to my idol, my face started burning.

When Shen Qiao saw me, he scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to skip the toast at dinner.”

I immediately nodded like a bobblehead.

“I know. You don’t like the smell of cigarettes.”

He looked slightly surprised.

“My brother told you? He doesn’t like it either…”

I quickly shook my head.

“I figured it out myself. I know you like meat, you hate the smell of cigarettes, and you’re allergic to peanuts, too. You probably don’t remember, but back when I was a freshman in college, I failed an exam and completely fell apart. You left a comment comforting me.”

I took a deep breath.

After keeping these words buried in my heart for years, I finally said them.

“Actually… I’m a fan of yours.”

As soon as I finished speaking, I handed him the box I’d been clutching all evening.

“This is a gift I prepared for you…”

Crash!

The sudden sound of shattering glass made me flinch.

I turned around.

Fu Yanjun had appeared behind me at some point.

He stood beneath the hallway lights, his expression terrifyingly cold.

The glass in his hand had already been crushed to pieces. Shards littered the floor around his feet, and blood dripped steadily from between his fingers.

His gaze landed on me with such heavy intensity that I could barely breathe.

After a long moment, his eyes slowly shifted to the box in Shen Qiao’s hands.

Shen Qiao blinked in confusion.

“Brother?”

Fu Yanjun seemed to snap back to reality.

He clenched his hand tighter, letting the shards dig deeper into his flesh.

The faintest smile touched his lips.

“Yeah. I’ve known for a long time that she’s your fan.”

He calmly rolled up his sleeves, moving so leisurely that anyone watching might have thought nothing had happened.

But I knew him well enough.

The calmer Fu Yanjun looked…

the angrier he was.

A panicked server hurried over with a first-aid kit.

Fu Yanjun didn’t even bother moving.

The atmosphere was so suffocating that I seriously considered digging a tunnel and escaping.

After a while, he called my name in a cold voice.

“Tang Wan Yin. Come with me.”

I’m screwed.

This time, I was definitely getting dumped.

“Wait…”

I still wanted to squeeze in a few more words with my idol.

But Shen Qiao unexpectedly spoke up, concern in his voice.

“Sister-in-law, help my brother take care of his hand first.”

Me: “…”

That “sister-in-law” sounded so good.

So good, in fact, that Fu Yanjun’s expression darkened several shades instantly.

…

Once we were inside the lounge, Fu Yanjun kept his face cold and said nothing.

I picked up a pair of tweezers, intending to remove the glass from his hand.

But the moment I touched him, he knocked my hand away.

“Don’t touch me.”

Outside the door, Su Yan was laughing and chatting happily with several male friends.

I thought for a few seconds before testing the waters.

“Are you… jealous?”

Then, in all sincerity, I offered him some advice.

“Getting angry in here isn’t going to help. Why don’t you go out there and win her back?”

Fu Yanjun’s eyebrow twitched violently.

He looked as though his injured palm had started hurting even more.

I was just about to open the door and leave when he finally asked in a hoarse voice,

“The important person you mentioned… Is it Shen Qiao?”

The warm yellow light in the lounge cast a hazy glow over him.

After his hand had been bandaged, he gritted his teeth and continued,

“You know what he likes to eat, what he hates, what he’s allergic to. What about me? What am I to you?”

Only then did I understand.

He was upset because I was obsessed with my idol.

But I had told him from the very beginning. He was the one who refused to believe me.

I pressed my lips together.

“Just calm down first.”

Fu Yanjun laughed bitterly.

He had been pampered like a prince his entire life. When had he ever been made to feel this wronged?

“I’m talking to you about our relationship, and you’re talking to me about your idol?”

He stepped toward me, closing the distance one step at a time.

Blood was already seeping through the white bandage. Just looking at it made my hand ache in sympathy.

“If I hadn’t heard it today… how much longer were you planning to keep this from me?”

The way he said it made it sound like I had just cheated on him.

I swallowed.

“Fu Yanjun… We already agreed to break up peacefully.”

He immediately shot back,

“What part of this is peaceful?”

I was speechless.

What else did he want?

The three of us to happily live under the same roof?

Thinking about all the rumors floating around outside, I instinctively took a step back.

“Then maybe… I can help you win over the person you really like?”

Fu Yanjun lowered his head and looked at me.

His gaze was so deep that it made my heart tremble.

After a long silence, he finally let go of my hand.

His voice was cold enough to send a shiver down my spine.

“Don’t apologize. Because, as it happens… I don’t like her either.”

“From now on, you stay on your side and I’ll stay on mine. Don’t show up in front of me again.”

“Tang Wan Yin. Don’t regret this later.”

With that, he turned and walked away.

For just a moment, I caught sight of the faint redness around his eyes.

“Fu—”

His footsteps stopped.

“What else do you want to say?”

I pointed toward the table.

“You forgot your phone.”

Fu Yanjun: “…”

To be fair, Fu Yanjun had an excellent memory.

And his phone was practically an extension of his hand because of work.

Yet somehow, he had almost forgotten it that night.

At the time, I didn’t think much of it.

As a civilized and dignified ex-girlfriend, I got Shen Qiao’s autograph and then left on my own.

On the way home, I opened my phone and went through my photos.

There really weren’t many pictures of Fu Yanjun and me together.

My finger had just reached the delete button when my phone suddenly vibrated.

Fu Yanjun texted:

“Remember to send me those photos from last time. And don’t delete me. If anyone gets to delete me, it’s me.”

Me: “…”

The pride of the heir to the Fu family really was stronger than steel.

I couldn’t resist replying.

“Your future girlfriend might see them. That wouldn’t be very appropriate.”

His reply came almost instantly.

“She won’t care.”

I stared at the message, feeling more and more that something wasn’t right.

There was no way Su Yan was the kind of woman who would be that understanding.

In the end…

I still didn’t send him the photos.
