The Billionaire’s Spoiled Little Canary

An Unforgettable Love

Chapter 2: An Unforgettable Love

The moment I stepped out of the bar, an arrogant voice stopped me.

“An Yi!”

I turned around to find Wen Wanting standing there, biting her lip with the righteous indignation of someone about to deliver divine justice. She strode toward me, her eyes filled with contempt.

“An Yi, I’ve looked into your background. Aren’t you the girl He Shiyan picked up off the streets? If it weren’t for the He family, you’d probably still be scavenging for recyclables. So what makes you think you can compete with me for the position of Mrs. He?”

I almost burst out laughing.

Wen Wanting was an adopted daughter who had recently been exposed as a fraud when the biological daughter of the Wen family returned. Now she needed He Shiyan to claw her way back into high society.

I shrugged and answered with utmost humility.

“Maybe it’s my 36D bust? I’m not entirely sure. But when it comes to certain activities that require good coordination, He Shiyan and I do make a pretty good match.”

Wen Wanting’s expression stiffened. Then she put on a tearful, wounded look.

“A-Nian is only angry with me. A man like him is bound to find someone to fill the void when he gets lonely. I don’t blame him.”

I curled my lips.

“Listening to other people tell stories too often can make you mistake them for the truth. I have no intention of becoming Mrs. He. But honestly, without He Shiyan, I’d be broke and wouldn’t have anyone left to back me up.”

Her eyes lit up.

“Then how much do you want?”

Before I could name a price, a sleek black Maybach pulled up right in front of us.

The window rolled down. The moment Wen Wanting saw He Shiyan, her face brightened. She hurried over.

“A-Nian, I was just talking to An Yi about our wedding.”

He Shiyan didn’t even look at her. His gaze went straight to me.

“You’re thrilled about me getting engaged?”

“If you’re offering a generous breakup settlement, then sure. Who doesn’t love money?” I blinked at him expectantly. “You promised me enough money to live on for the rest of my life, remember?”

“Enough.”

He cut me off coldly.

I was about to open the car door when Wen Wanting beat me to it and claimed the back seat—my seat.

“A-Nian, it’s so late. It’ll be hard to find a cab. Could you give me a ride home?”

He Shiyan closed his eyes, silently agreeing.

I stood outside in the cold wind, my heart turning just as cold.

“Not getting in? Planning to stand there until you turn into an ice sculpture?”

His mocking voice drifted toward me.

“I’m not sitting in the front.”

In the end, Wen Wanting had to move to the passenger seat, claiming she got carsick. I climbed into the back and secretly texted him.

An Yi: Have you added her back on WeChat yet?

An Yi: You’ve never let another woman sit in your car before. Guess some first loves really are unforgettable.

After reading my messages, He Shiyan suddenly spoke.

“There are snacks you like in the glove compartment, along with that bracelet from the latest collection you’ve been eyeing for the past few days.”

Wen Wanting assumed they were for her and eagerly reached for the compartment, but the assistant stopped her.

“Sorry, Miss Wen. Those aren’t for you.”

The atmosphere turned solid as concrete.

He Shiyan raised the privacy screen, completely blocking the view of the front seats. Then, as casually as if nothing had happened, he reached over and clasped my hand.

At the intersection, Wen Wanting, thoroughly humiliated, asked to be let out early.

The next morning, after my sugar daddy left for work, I began taking inventory of my assets: handbags, shoes, jewelry…

If I sold everything, I figured I could afford a small apartment. That way, if I ever got dumped, I’d at least have somewhere to crawl into and cry.

To make the most of my black card while I still had it, I headed to the mall.

Talk about running into the wrong people.

I bumped into Wen Wanting and her little clique of mean girls again.

One of the heiresses lifted her chin.

“Wanting already picked this bag. You should give it up.”

I held out my black card.

“Why should I? Ring it up.”

The argument erupted.

Just as the heiress was about to call security and have me thrown out, a group of men in black suits suddenly appeared. They bowed respectfully.

“Miss An, President He said you should let us know if you need anything.”

So they were He Shiyan’s people.

Was he worried someone might bully me, or was he afraid I’d claw his precious white moonlight’s face off in public?

I looked at Wen Wanting and smiled wickedly.

“I was planning to buy some men’s underwear for He Shiyan. Would you like to come along and help me pick something out?”

The girls’ faces turned green.

I strolled into the store, picked out a few things for myself, and selected several pairs for him.

The moment I finished paying, my phone buzzed.

Big Daddy: ?

An Yi: Just ran into your fiancée.

Big Daddy: Where?

I sent him the address, privately marveling at how much He Shiyan doted on his white moonlight.

He must have been terrified I’d accidentally squeeze her to death right there in the street.

Wen Wanting still followed me into the handbag store like a vengeful ghost.

The moment she laid eyes on a particular bag, I snatched it up first.

“Please wrap this one for me.”

Jiang Yue immediately bristled.

“An Yi, are you deliberately trying to pick a fight?”

I put on an exaggerated look of surprise.

“Oh my God, you finally figured it out? You’re smarter than you look.”

The confrontation nearly turned physical if He Shiyan hadn’t shown up in time.

He didn’t spare either of them a glance. He simply walked straight over to me, raised an eyebrow, and asked:

“Where’s the gift you bought me?”

My face flushed scarlet.

Reluctantly, I handed him the bag containing the men’s underwear I’d just picked out.

He glanced inside, the corner of his mouth lifting.

“You even know how to pick the right size.”

“Hmph. I should’ve bought the smallest size.” I muttered and turned my face away.

He Shiyan laughed, then casually ordered his assistant:

“Have every new style in the store wrapped and delivered to Miss An’s house.”

Seeing Wen Wanting’s face turn a sickly shade of green made my heart bloom.

In the car, I hugged my spoils of war, basking in my victory, until he leaned close to my ear.

“Last time, you said one handbag was worth one kiss. I’m starting to suspect you’re deliberately trying to work me to death.”

“Don’t return the bags!”

I clutched them tightly and pretended not to hear him laughing suggestively.
