FINAL CHAPTER: A Dream Come True.
The tension in Xie Yun’s eyes was unmistakably clear. He stammered out, “I… I don’t know.”
Refusing to let him overthink it for another second, I reached out, grabbed his tie, yanked him down, and planted my lips directly on his.
Xie Yun froze as if struck by lightning. But his rigid reaction only fueled my amusement. Smirking against his mouth, I decided to deepen the kiss, eager to see just how long this “obedient pup” intended to keep up his little act.
When I finally pulled back after that scorching kiss, Xie Yun stood there rigid as a statue, his face flushed red enough to boil an egg. The corner of my lips curled up. “Know who it is now?”
He stammered, “…Song Ngu, can you slap me?”
I was speechless. Talk about insatiable, getting a kiss wasn’t enough, and now he wanted a side order of “rewards”? Fine, I’d indulge him. I raised a hand and gave his cheek a gentle tap. Xie Yun instantly cupped the spot, his eyes dazed as if he’d just hit the jackpot. “It really isn’t a dream…”
Dating my lifelong arch-nemesis took some getting used to. Especially since every two or three days, he’d use his title as “CEO Xie” to barge into my office without an appointment, earning us increasingly suggestive looks from my assistant.
Annoyed, I tossed the villa keys straight at him, keeping my face cold. “I threw the iron cage and chains into the ocean to feed the fish. Figure it out yourself.”
Xie Yun went dead quiet, lost in deep, deadly serious thought. The very next day, he brought home a brand-new set of “equipment”, chains, locks, and an entire collection of accessories, all neatly arranged. Talk about a guy who never missed an opportunity.
That night, Xie Yun knelt on the floor, gently rubbing his face against the top of my foot, his eyes showing not a shred of restraint when it came to his desire. I deliberately turned away, pretending to ignore him. Panic flashed across his face instantly, and he scrambled to get up and wrap his arms around me, only to stumble over the chains around his feet and hit the deck with a loud thud.
I rushed to steady him. “How do you manage to trip over yourself?!”
A layer of unshed tears immediately welled up in his eyes. “I was just scared… you’d throw me away again.”
Having said that, he seized the chance to sneak a quick kiss onto my forehead. I could only shake my head, this man was an absolute master at playing fragile while fishing in troubled waters.
In our second month living together, I stumbled upon his annual Weibo recap report. The most frequently used keyword: “Her.”
Curiosity winning out over reason, I scrolled down to read through his past status updates:
July 17, 2024: “As long as she’s safe, nothing else matters.”
September 9, 2024: “Got into an accident and went blind. Doesn’t matter. What matters is she took me home like a stray dog… Almost couldn’t stop myself from kissing her hand.”
November 17, 2024: “Heard she has someone she likes. Jealous as hell.”
January 8, 2025: “She kissed me by force. Ahhhhhh. I want to cry so bad!!!”
September 12, 2016 (High school years): “She’s talking to another guy again. When will she ever look at me? Just for a second would be enough… Whatever, going to sleep. Maybe in my dreams she’ll actually like me.”
I turned to look at the man sleeping beside me. His brows were relaxed, the corners of his lips pulled into a faint, soft curve, he was probably dreaming about something wonderful.
It turned out that for ten whole years, while I had been busy pulling pranks and picking fights, he had been completely consumed by his own obsessively crazy, unrequited love.
A soft laugh escaped me. Picking up my phone, I navigated to his latest post and left a comment:
“Congratulations. Your dream came true, and so did mine.”
