Prologue
My dad is an absolute dream, flawless, drop-dead gorgeous, and completely useless at surviving in the real world. Put him in a room with a basic adult task, and somehow it turns into a minor catastrophe. That meant a devastatingly handsome guy had to drag a little doll-like kid, yours truly, through life, scraping by on whatever pennies we could scrounge up.
Who could’ve guessed that one day I’d randomly catch a glimpse of a photo in a cold, powerful CEO’s wallet, and recognize a young version of my dad? I didn’t even think twice. I packed up the guy and dragged him straight home.
The result? The moment Mr. Big Shot CEO laid eyes on my dad, his gaze lit up like a Christmas tree. Free house. Free car. Blank checks.
Eventually, my dad realized something was a little off. He tried sneaking out on a blind date behind the guy’s back, only to end up pinned against a wall, kissed so hard his lips looked like swollen leeches.
Afterward, he pointed a shaking finger right at my face, tears streaming down his cheeks. “You unfilial little monster! I’ve lived almost thirty years and I’ve never heard of a kid hunting down a man for her own father! You’re no daughter of mine… wahhh!“
A few months later, that very same “beauty” sat across from me, his face beet red. He fidgeted for an eternity before finally leaning in and whispering, “Sweetheart… if your new stepmom… turned out to be a guy, would you mind?”
