CHAPTER 4: Finale

Late-night impulsivity really was a dangerous thing! Gnashing my teeth, I typed out a response:
[Take your hoard of strawberry pics and march your ass right off my friends list!]
On the other end, Lin Yu cackled for a solid minute before dropping a cryptic reply: “I prepared a surprise for you~ make sure you check it out!”
While I was still blinking in confusion, I caught sight of Xie Zhan coming downstairs, limping and shuffling his feet in utter misery. Not even bothering to ask how he was, I called out at the top of my lungs:
“Uncle Chung! Xie Zhan’s injured—get him our best car and take him home right away before it gets any worse!”
Once that uninvited guest was safely shipped off, I rewatched the security footage the butler brought up for me. Hearing the vile insults Xie Zhan had hurled at my husband, my blood boiled.
“Everything Xie Zhan touched in this house—throw it out! Demolish that guest room entirely! From now on, he is never to step foot into the Chuc estate ever again!”
Panicking, I rushed out to look for Gui Xiao, but he was nowhere to be found. Just as my heart began to race with the terrifying thought that he might have left, the bedroom door burst open.
Gui Xiao stumbled inside, his face flushed like a house on fire, his breath coming in ragged, heavy gasps. He slammed the door shut and leaned heavily against it to catch his breath. Seeing me step forward, he flinched away as if trying to dodge a plague, his voice a frantic mess of sheer embarrassment:
“Miss… why… why did you drug me?!”
I froze in my tracks. “Huh?!”
The floating comments exploded into an absolute frenzy:
[LMAO! Her bestie is a total legend—tricked the male lead into taking “drugs” and pinned it all on the heroine!]
[It’s not even real drugs though, literally just flour! He’s only acting like this because his wild imagination ran away with him!]
So this was Lin Yu’s little surprise! Blinking fast, I seized the moment and launched myself straight into Gui Xiao’s arms, nuzzling my head into his chest.
“That’s right, I did it. You keep giving me the cold shoulder, and I just couldn’t take it anymore. We’re husband and wife—can’t you just indulge me a little…?”
Gui Xiao’s entire body was burning like a furnace. He stared down at me with a gaze hot enough to reduce me to ashes, then suddenly reached out and covered my eyes with his hand. A scorching, ravenous kiss came crashing down, pinning me back onto the mattress.
“Don’t look,” he rasped, his voice thick and rough.
I obediently closed my eyes, offering him a playful grin. “Fine. But does a good boy get a reward?”
Gui Xiao let out a low, breathless chuckle, his voice thick like sweet honey: “Yes. Good girls get rewards. Don’t hide… and don’t be scared of me.”
Fumbling around in the dark, my hand brushed against that familiar, fluffy tail once again.
“Still a toy?” I teased.
“…Yeah.”
I gripped the fluffy tip and pressed a gentle kiss to it. “Next time, put the ears on too. I really love fluffy things.”
“…Okay.” His voice was so raspy it was barely a whisper.
A few days later, Xie Zhan showed up at our gates again. But this time, I had the full investigation report sitting in my hands.
When I was little, I was weak, sickly, and completely isolated. Xie Zhan was the only one who stayed by my side—telling me stories, pushing my wheelchair, and buying me sweet treats. Even when I was hospitalized, he cried harder than my own parents. All of that had blinded me for years.
Standing outside the Chuc estate, Xie Zhan stared at me through the iron gates, his eyes filled with agonizing confusion:
“Mingyue… why?”
I looked at him, my heart entirely cold and still. It was time to rip off his “doting neighborhood brother” mask for good.
I stood inside the courtyard while Xie Zhan remained outside, separated by a firm line of bodyguards.
“What did I do wrong…? Just tell me, please! We grew up together…” he choked out, looking utterly heartbroken.
I cut him off, clean and sharp: “That wasn’t affection. That was sick, twisted possessiveness.”
Without holding back, I laid bare the ugly truth: from how he deliberately fed me dark, depressing stories to make me terrified of the outside world, to how he played the savior by driving away every single friend who tried to get close to me. He wanted to turn me into a delicate glass doll trapped in a cage, completely dependent on him and him alone.
Xie Zhan’s face drained of all color. Then, a manic, unhinged laugh escaped his lips:
“Zhu Mingyue! You really don’t know what’s good for you! I loved you so much! I was even willing to marry into your family for you! I kept everyone away to protect you—do you have any idea how cruel people out there are?! People like that Gui Xiao!”
My voice turned ice-cold: “Muffle his mouth. Throw him back to the Xie residence.”
The bodyguards surged forward, dragging him away swiftly. The floating comments chimed in with roaring applause:
[Right on! He’s the classic ‘I did it all for you’ guy, when he was the one causing all the damn storms in the first place!]
[Thank God her dad found the male lead just in time to save her!]
That evening, my parents returned home and officially laid out the truth. Gui Xiao wasn’t human—he was a Werewolf.
Years ago, his kind was hunted relentlessly because their blood possessed the power to cure any disease. My father had saved him from his pursuers and offered him sanctuary. In return, Gui Xiao willingly offered his own heart-blood to save my life.
My father looked at me with concern: “Are you surprised, sweetie?”
I immediately put on my best innocent act: “Wait, what?! He’s really a werewolf?!”
Inwardly, I was screaming: Surprised?! I don’t even have enough time to obsess over him!
That night, Gui Xiao brought in a basin of warm water to soak my feet. Kneeling beside the bed, his rough hands delicately lifted my ankles and placed them into the water. His voice trembled slightly:
“You know now… don’t you? Are you… scared of me?”
I reached out and gently patted his head. “Don’t listen to Xie Zhan—listen to me. I’m your wife, and I love your fluffy tail and ears.”
Gui Xiao nuzzled his head against my palm like an eager little pup: “Okay. I’ll only listen to you.”
I flashed him a mischievous grin: “Good boys get rewards.”
Lifting my foot, I pressed it lightly against his chest, rubbing it against the thin fabric of his shirt. “Every time you wash my feet for me, I’ve always wanted to do this.”
The very next second—I was swept off my feet and hoisted into bed.
“What a coincidence,” he whispered, his eyes shifting entirely, turning wild, feral, and blazing hot. “I’ve wanted to do this too.”
“Do I… get to see the real tail this time?”
Before the words could fully leave my mouth, a thick, fluffy tail wrapped tightly around my leg, slowly slithering its way up. My eyes went wide: “Oh my god… it moves on its own?!”
Gui Xiao laid me down on the mattress, his voice dropping into a low, husky rumble: “It can do a lot more than just move.”
Above me, a pair of fluffy wolf ears sprouted, gently rubbing against my cheek and tickling my skin. “Good boys get rewards. Give me my reward… and I’ll reward you right back.”
My lips were completely claimed. The tail wrapped tighter and tighter around me as Gui Xiao’s warmth completely consumed my world. Outside, the night slowly bled into dawn, but he showed no signs of stopping, whispering softly into my ear:
“This reward… I love it.”
I was completely exhausted, every muscle aching, yet I could still feel his fingers tightly intertwined with mine.
“Zhu Mingyue… the luckiest thing that ever happened to me was becoming your husband. We’re going to be together for the rest of our lives.”
