Chapter 6: Get out
She kept her head bowed, sniffling soundlessly as she whimpered, “I’m sorry, Yuyu. I promise I won’t do it again.”
I didn’t bother replying, but two small details set off alarm bells in my head: she refused to meet my eyes, and despite her pitiful sniffling, there wasn’t a single actual tear on her cheek.
The next morning, despite being a total night owl who loved sleeping in, I woke up bright and early. I planned to help Lin Chaowan pack up and head straight back to campus today. My gut told me this girl was nowhere near as harmless or pitiful as she pretended to be.
Chaowan stayed quiet for a moment before nodding. “Okay, let me go grab my things.”
Then, she turned to me with a hesitant, hopeful look. “Yuyu, I ordered a few daily necessities that just got delivered, but the driver said security won’t let him inside the gated community. Could you run down to the front gate and grab them for me?”
I thought about it for a second and nodded. I figured even if she had some pathetic design on Pho Dinh, a fragile girl like her couldn’t possibly do anything to a grown man who completely outmatched her in strength and size.
I severely overestimated her moral bottom line. I never expected her to resort to something so vile, cheap, and utterly shameless.
I had just retrieved the package and stepped back into the courtyard when a piercing, shrill scream echoed from the second floor.
It was Chaowan’s voice.
My heart dropped into my stomach. Dropping the bags, I kicked off my shoes and sprinted up the stairs. The sound had come directly from Dinh’s bedroom.
When I shoved the door open, the sight before me shattered my brain, leaving me frozen on the spot.
Chaowan’s clothes and underwear were scattered haphazardly across the floor. She was half-draped across Dinh’s king-sized bed, clutching the duvet tightly around her body, leaving only her bare shoulders and arms exposed. Tears streamed down her hysterical face in total terror.
Meanwhile, Pho Dinh was leaning against the wall near the doorway, completely expressionless, staring down at her with pure, unadulterated disgust.
“What… what happened here?” My mind went completely blank. It took me several seconds to find my voice.
Chaowan clutched the duvet tighter, her shoulders trembling as her red, tear-filled eyes looked up at Dinh.
“You… you can’t just refuse to take responsibility for me! You’ve seen my whole body… Back in my hometown, tradition says you have to marry me!”
Hearing that, Dinh let out a harsh, mocking laugh. He was so infuriated he actually broke his usual composure to snap a curse:
“Holy fuck, you think I’d actually waste my eyes looking at trash like you?”
As it turned out, Dinh had needed to step out early that morning. The moment I walked down to the gate to grab her delivery, Chaowan seized the window of opportunity to slip into his room. She stripped completely naked, scattered her clothes all over the floor to stage a scene, and crawled into his bed to wait for him.
Except Dinh hadn’t seen a damn thing. He distinctly remembered leaving his door slightly ajar when he walked out, so when he returned to find it shut tight, he immediately smelled a rat. The second he turned the handle and saw a woman’s coat tossed on the floor, he kept his eyes glued to the ground, not even deigning to glance toward the bed.
Chaowan was still putting on her pathetic act, weeping like a helpless victim, but the words spewing from her mouth were venomous and utterly shameless:
“But right now, I’m lying naked in your bed! You have to take responsibility… Otherwise, I’ll have my parents come here, make a massive scene, and force you to take me in!”
Dinh sneered, staring at her like she was a delusional lunatic. Without a word, he pulled out his phone, dialed his assistant, and ordered his security team upstairs immediately.
Watching her grotesque display, a chaotic mix of fury, disgust, and the agonizing sting of betrayal boiled over inside me. Face dark, I marched over and delivered a sharp, resounding SLAP straight across her face.
Having been sheltered and protected by Dinh my entire life, I had never experienced this kind of filthy drama before. It was the very first time in my life I had ever put my hands on someone.
“Lin Chaowan, haven’t I treated you well enough?”
She bit her lip hard, clutching her swollen, red cheek, weeping quietly without daring to utter a single word.
“How can you be so shameless and utterly devoid of class?” I whipped out my phone, switched on the front camera, and shoved it right in front of her face, forcing her to look at herself. “Take a good look! Do you want to see how cheap and pathetic you look right now?!”
Panicking, she swatted my phone away and suddenly grabbed the hem of my shirt, begging hysterically:
“Yuyu, save me! Try to understand my situation! I really don’t want to be taken back and forced to marry that cripple! I’m not ugly, am I? What’s wrong with me becoming Mr. Pho’s bride… I promise I’ll treat both of you so well in the future! I genuinely love him!”
Standing near the door, Dinh lost the last shred of his patience. He pointed a sharp finger at her face and roared:
“Shut the fuck up! You’re making me sick!”
A second later, Dinh’s security detail flooded into the room. His eyes were deadly cold, stripped of any warmth. Chaowan had thoroughly trampled over his absolute limit; he no longer felt the need to offer her a shred of mercy or basic decency.
“Drag her and this damn bed out onto the street,” Dinh ordered coldly.
The room was instantly packed with four or five burly, imposing men. Chaowan went into a full-blown panic, using every ounce of her strength to wrap the duvet around her body as she shrieked:
“If any of you lay a finger on me, I’ll call the cops and sue you all for gang rape!”
Dinh curled his lip into a cold smirk, nodding slowly as the storm in his eyes became completely uncontainable:
“Go ahead. Call them. While you’re at it, we’ll drag you out naked so you can stand in the middle of the street and tell the whole neighborhood your story. I’ll even call a press crew to livestream it for you.”
Only then did Chaowan realize her desperate threats were completely useless against a man of his stature and power. Seeing the burly men closing in on her, sheer terror overtook her. She finally turned to me with desperate, pleading eyes:
“Yuyu, I was wrong! I know I was wrong…! Don’t let them touch me! I’ll put my clothes on and leave right now, okay? I lost my mind, I was out of my head!”
I couldn’t care less how sincere her apology was at this point. Bending down, I scooped up her torn underwear from the floor and hurled it straight at her head.
“Put your clothes on and get the fuck out of my sight!”
Dinh cast a look of utter repulsion at her, as if looking at her for one more second would pollute his eyes, before turning sharply to walk out.
I coldly dismissed the security team into the hallway so she could dress herself, and I was the last one to slam the bedroom door shut behind me.
