Chapter 7

Lu Chi’s phone suddenly began vibrating like crazy on the table.

【@Admin! Emergency! Come save us!】
【Ji Mingyue is getting dragged to hell online right now!】
【Aren’t you her #1 Diamond Fan?!】

I blinked, thoroughly intrigued. “Who’s messaging you?”

Lu Chi locked his screen with a sharp snap. “A… work group.”

I narrowed my eyes suspiciously. “A work group where they call you the Admin?”

The tips of his ears turned bright crimson. “You misread it.”

With lightning-fast reflexes, I snatched the phone right out of his hand.

The group name hit me straight in the face: [Wanna Marry Mingyue Today Too]

Admin ID: LC

Me: “???”

I tapped into the group details.

Group Creation Date: 3 years ago
Chat History:
Mingyue is so impossibly cute today I could die.”
“I’ve rewatched Mingyue’s new scene compilation 100 times.”
“If anyone dares talk trash about Mingyue, I will personally cut them.”

Leaderboard Top Donator:
#1 on Ji Mingyue’s fan voting chart.
Spent $150,000 on birthday gifts for his idol.

I slowly lifted my head, staring at him. “You’re… the leader of my fan club?!”

Lu Chi turned his face away, looking everywhere but at me. “It’s been three years… you finally noticed.”

My mind went completely blank. “Wait! Three years ago? You knew who I was back then?!”

Three years ago, I was an absolute nobody, an eighteenth-tier extra whose only line was “Yes, CEO.”

Lu Chi’s face darkened. “Summer Starlight! I was the male lead, and you played my secretary!”

I racked my brain, trying to search my memories. “Oh… sorry, I don’t remember.”

He gritted his teeth. “Back then, you literally told me: ‘You’re so handsome, Mr. Lu! I’m totally obsessed with you!'”

I scratched my head awkwardly. “Ah… I say that to every handsome guy I meet.”

The atmosphere instantly plummeted into an awkward silence.

Then, a sudden lightbulb went off in my head. “Wait! So… you’ve had a crush on me since back then?!”

Lu Chi let out a low growl. “If it wasn’t for my mom jumping the gun and claiming you first!”

Me: “???”

He began angrily listing his mother’s crimes: “I was clearly the one who liked you first! I arranged that reality show two years ago specifically so I could meet you. Who knew my mom would barge in and claim you as her own?!”

Within minutes, eagle-eyed netizens managed to dig up a wave of undeniable evidence online:

【If anyone dares make up rumors about my wife, I will fight you until dawn!】
【My wife is a natural beauty, no plastic surgery!】
【I’ll say it again: Ji Mingyue HAS A HUSBAND! It’s me! LU! CHI!】

The hashtags rocketed straight to the top of the trending lists:

#LuChiPresidentOfJiMingyueFanclub
#FakeMarriageRealLove
#MovieEmperorSuccessfullyMarriedHisIdol

The hot searches exploded completely.

The comment section went up in flames:

[WTF! This is a literal ‘secret crush turned husband’ web novel plot line come to life!!!]
[Lu Chi: I rewatched all of my wife’s scenes 100 times.]
[Ji Mingyue: Huh? My husband is my fan club admin?!]
[Marry first, fall in love later is the ULTIMATE trope!]

I stared wide-eyed at him. “So… marrying me was because you actually liked me?”

Lu Chi’s entire face flushed red, down to his neck. “Obviously.”

I leaned in closer, prodding further: “Why didn’t you just tell me sooner?”

He looked away, his expression deeply awkward. “I was afraid you’d think I was a creep.”

From outside the bedroom, Sister Lan’s voice echoed through the door: “Are you two done starring in your romance novel? If you’re done, get down here for dinner!”

—

With the show wrapped up and all the misunderstandings cleared, the two Lu men were finally granted permission to move back into the estate.

The moment we stepped through the door, Lu Chi locked the bedroom door tight. Pushing me against the wall, his eyes burned with a dark, intense hunger. “Wife… it’s been a whole year.”

I played dumb. “A year… of what?”

He leaned down, his lips brushing against my ear as he gave it a soft, teasing bite. “I’ve been holding back for a whole year. I’m about to lose my mind.”

I gave him a deadpan look. “Oh. Then why don’t you try holding back a little longer?”

Lu Chi: “…”

The next second, he scooped me up in a princess carry and threw me straight onto the bed.

Once he “broke his fast,” he was like a starved wolf let out of its cage.

The next morning, clutching my aching lower back, I yelled at him, “Lu Chi, are you an absolute animal?!”

He nodded with an obnoxious amount of pride. “Yep. Your animal.”

From that day on… Lu Chi completely threw his dignity out the window.

—

The next morning.

BAM! BAM! — Sister Lan pounded on the door.
“Xiao Yue, get up! Let’s go shopping!”

Lu Chi wrapped his arms tightly around my waist, pulling me back into his chest. “No way. She’s my wife.”

Sister Lan let out a cold smirk. “Oh? Do you want to find out what it feels like if I become your stepmother tomorrow?”

Lu Chi: “…”

Sister Lan put her hands on her hips. “Go out and make some money! Stop clinging to another woman’s wife like an unemployed housepet.”

Lu Chi tried to talk back: “I’m a Movie Emperor. I have plenty of money.”

Sister Lan raised an eyebrow. “Oh? So we’re using your credit card today then?”

Lu Chi: “…”

Sister Lan turned to me. “Xiao Yue, who are you picking?”

Without a single second of hesitation: “You, obviously!”

Ever since we met on that reality show two years ago, she was my true soulmate, completely irreplaceable.

I patted Lu Chi’s head like I was soothing an overly needy golden retriever. “Be a good boy. I’ll come find you later.”

—

That evening.

Sister Lan and I were curled up on the bed, munching on chips and gossiping away.

The two Lu men were squatting meekly near the edge of the bed, their eyes wide and longing, looking for all the world like stray cats sniffing around a plate of grilled fish.

Sister Lan clicked her tongue in annoyance. “They’re an eyesore.”

I nodded in total agreement. “Want to… mess with them a little?”

Sister Lan: “Approved.”

Operation: MTR (Mess With The Men) begins…

Out of nowhere, I yelled, “Lu Chi! Did you squeeze the toothpaste from the top of the tube again yesterday?!”

Lu Chi: “???”

Sister Lan slammed her hand on the nightstand. “Mr. Lu! Why are your slippers on my side of the bed?!”

Dad Lu: “???”

Panicked, the father-and-son duo stumbled over themselves, stammering out frantic apologies.

Sister Lan raised her chin bossily. “You, go buy grilled skewers from the south side of town.”

I added fuel to the fire: “And you, go get extra-spicy hot pot from the west side.”

The two Lu men: “…”

Half an hour later, the late-night feast was laid out across the coffee table.

Sister Lan and I dug in like we were celebrating a grand festival.

Meanwhile, the two men sat huddled in the corner: helpless, fragile, and utterly defeated.

Hmph.

Men.

They really thought they could come between our ironclad sisterhood? Not a chance in hell.
