The Billionaire's Paid Girlfriend

Song Yan's POV

Extra 3: Song Yan’s POV

The very first time I saw Yu Sisi was on freshman orientation day. Everyone else was escorted by their parents or relatives, but she was entirely on her own, dragging a massive, oversized suitcase.
Squeezing her way through the dense crowd, she finally made it to the dormitory entrance with great difficulty. That solitary look on her face somehow reminded me of my past self. Driven by some inexplicable impulse, I walked up without a word and grabbed her suitcase, intending to help her carry it inside.
To my complete surprise, Yu Sisi instantly clutched her suitcase with a death grip, glaring at me with extreme suspicion. “What are you trying to do, man? There’s no cash in here.”
I was so exasperated I almost laughed. “I was just trying to do a good deed and help you with your luggage.”
“Oh…” Her face flushed bright crimson in an instant. “Sorry, I’m just a little over-cautious.” Then, with absolute, unwavering firmness, she added, “But I don’t need your help. I can carry it myself.”
With that, powered by some sudden, god-given strength, she heaved the entire heavy suitcase up and stomped straight into the building. Watching her retreating back, I silently rolled my eyes, swearing to myself that I would never meddle in this country bumpkin’s business ever again.
Turns out, fate loves making a fool out of you. From that day on, I couldn’t help but subconsciously keep an eye on her. A girl who was both pretty and delightfully odd like Yu Sisi was simply impossible to ignore.
Through campus rumors, I pieced together bits and pieces of her family background. Although I was genuinely curious, I never considered taking the initiative to approach her. After all, my very first attempt at being a good guy had been brutally shut down. Besides, every time I bumped into her, she wore a frosty, distant expression. I had zero interest in walking up to get my ego bruised a second time.
A year later, I got a girlfriend. Initially, I just wanted to see what being in a relationship felt like. I knew she had been chasing me for a whole year solely because I drove a luxury car and wore an expensive watch—with the word “RICH” practically stamped across my forehead.
As a wealthy guy, I didn’t actually mind material girls. The only thing I absolutely couldn’t tolerate was being cheated on.
On the day I discovered her betrayal, I was feeling utterly disgusted when I happened to run into Yu Sisi. I knew she needed money, and I was dead certain she wouldn’t turn me down. So I called her over.
I thought she would hesitate at least a little bit. Who knew her movement in snatching the black card from my hand would be so ridiculously swift, making me feel like if she were a second too slow, she’d regret it for the rest of her life.
Before I could even weigh whether to change my mind… she had already sweetly cooed: “Hubby.”
“…”
Right at that exact moment, I knew my life was completely ruined.
On the very first day of our relationship, Yu Sisi mistook me for someone else.
Early the next morning, I specifically made a trip back to campus to wait for her outside the male dorms. Instead, she walked right past me clutching a bag of breakfast without giving me a single glance, standing a short distance away while staring intently up at the dormitory windows.
I decided to keep my mouth shut. I wanted to see just how long it would take her to realize she had the wrong guy.
Half an hour later, her eyes finally registered some movement. Thinking she had recognized me, I stepped forward, trying to act cool. To my absolute horror, she completely ignored me again and walked straight past, leaving me standing there like a total fool.
Then, I watched helplessly as she cradled that breakfast, calling out sweetly to Jiang Yifan: “Hubby!”
I laughed out of sheer fury. Well, it made sense—yesterday her eyes had been glued tight to the bank card in my hand, leaving zero time to actually look at the face of the guy giving it to her.
Maybe because I had just been cheated on, I was exceptionally sensitive at the time. Seeing Yu Sisi appear beside Jiang Yifan instantly set off my jealousy. And since I had paid for this, I didn’t bother hiding it anymore. After all, I was the “VIP client”—wasn’t it only natural for her to coax me a little?
Except… Yu Sisi genuinely had zero dating experience.
I had gotten so mad at her that she resorted to secretly searching online: How to comfort a jealous boyfriend.
…
On a shopping trip with my cousin at the mall, I spotted Yu Sisi from afar walking with her roommates. Just as I was about to walk over and say hi, she instantly pulled her hat down, threw on a pair of dark sunglasses, and bolted with her friends.
My cousin and I both froze at her swift, effortless escape. My cousin burst out laughing, teasing, “Your girlfriend is pretty hilarious.”
Indeed. Not just hilarious, but a total headache.
Whenever any female appeared near me, Yu Sisi would immediately put on an “I understand, don’t worry about it” expression and tactfully retreat. The more “understanding” she acted, the more irritated I became. Didn’t she know how to be even a little bit jealous in a relationship?
So I decided to give her the cold shoulder for a few days, intending to let her reflect on herself. The result? Great. Not only did she fail to reflect, but the moment she saw me, she’d throw on a hat and dark sunglasses, sneaking around like a fugitive.
The funniest part was… wearing dark sunglasses and a pulled-down hat while hiding behind trees to spy on someone on a college campus actually made her ten times more noticeable than normal. I felt embarrassed just watching her. In the end, not wanting her to keep playing those foolish games, I decided to drop it.
Right around then, it was my mom’s birthday, and I was in no mood to go find Yu Sisi anyway. For several days in a row, I sat in bars drowning my sorrows.
Everyone assumed Yu Sisi and I had broken up. They had seen me soft-launching her on social media before, so the moment Yu Sisi showed up, they took turns trying to talk sense into me. Feeling utterly embarrassed, I simply pretended to be asleep.
For once, Yu Sisi actually showed a conscience and brought me home. Looking at her bright, clear eyes and listening to her ramble on with random “chicken soup for the soul” wisdom, I suddenly realized… dating actually felt pretty great. Even if her way of comforting me was a bit silly, the feeling of her patiently responding to every single word still made me feel immensely warm inside.
I originally planned to confess, but on second thought, her brain at the time held nothing but money, so I decided to hold off. After all, I had the funds, and I had the patience.
As time went by, I grew accustomed to having Yu Sisi by my side. I knew that in her mind, our relationship started off as a purely financial transaction. But since I couldn’t force a change in her mindset right away, I just endured it as best as I could.
Until my cousin was about to give birth.
Lately, my cousin had been feeling uncomfortable and frequently texted me to complain, scolding me for not visiting in a while and assuming I had forgotten she was pregnant. Who could have guessed… Yu Sisi mistook her for the “other woman,” even voluntarily offering to nurse her through her postpartum recovery.
I was so angry at the time that I literally laughed out loud. I was too furious to even bother explaining. If she wanted to nurse her, so be it—after all, in her eyes, nursing anyone probably earned her the same money anyway.
Once I cooled down, I intended to go find Yu Sisi to clear up the misunderstanding. Yet the second I arrived, I saw her standing there talking to Jiang Yifan. I turned right around and left.
The next day, even though Yu Sisi was as stubborn as usual, her face was pale, and the dark circles under her eyes were so thick she looked like a panda. My heart instantly softened.
And right then, an absurdly bold thought popped into my head: Turns out… Yu Sisi actually likes me too.
Honestly, even I don’t know exactly when I started falling for her.
Maybe it was from the moment she called me “hubby” so smoothly without a single second of hesitation.
Maybe it was when she seriously took the time to memorize every single one of my preferences.
Or when she teamed up with me to roast other people, her sharp tongue and humor hitting so hard I wanted to applaud.
Or when her shameless obsession with money was just overwhelmingly cute.
Or when she foolishly tried every trick in the book to coax me into signing that contract.
Or even when she wore those dark sunglasses, sneaking around everywhere to hide from me.
All those tiny, mundane moments gradually accumulated in my memory. Until finally… they pieced together to form the exact image of Yu Sisi in my heart.
I know her secret.
On the day I graduated, I accidentally stumbled upon Yu Sisi’s notebook. Right there on the very first page were two lines written in her own handwriting:
May Yu Sisi have a bright and prosperous future.
May Yu Sisi and Song Yan stay together forever.
